Training through IBEW Local 20

IBEW Local 20 committed to educating and engaging our members by providing them with the tools to be successful IBEW activists and leaders. The IBEW's education programs provide comprehensive training in organizational and leadership development through organizing training, steward training, and more. C.O.M.E.T.

Construction Organizing Membership Education Training, is a program designed to educate and mobilize members in organizing efforts, increasing participation, and promoting the benefits of working union. COMET training helps current members understand the importance of organizing new members, which is crucial for the union's growth and for generating support for organizing initiatives.

CODE OF EXCELLENCE

Code of Excellence is a construction program that promotes quality workmanship, productivity, safety, and professionalism to ensure customers receive maximum value and secure future work for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). Key aspects include members performing the highest quality and quantity of work, utilizing maximum skills, following safety and work rules, taking care of employer property, punctuality, and promoting a strong work ethic.

Politics, Activism & Livelihood (PAL)

This course explores the complex relationship between politics, government, and local unions. It is important for our members to understand how engaging in activism at the local, provincial, and national level - even when it can be controversial - secures our livelihoods and leads to a stronger workforce.

Steward Training

This course is offered for construction and professional/industrial stewards. This course is designed to provide stewards with essential knowledge, skills and tools that they need to fulfill their many duties. Topics include roles and responsibilities, legal rights and obligations, understanding the contract, and communicating with members.
